About

SoftBank Ventures Asia (SBVA) was established in 2000 as the venture capital arm of SoftBank Group, focusing on early-stage investments in technology companies across Asia. Over the years, SBVA managed over $2 billion in funds, supporting numerous startups in sectors such as e-commerce, fintech, and artificial intelligence. In April 2023, SoftBank Group agreed to sell SBVA to a newly formed entity named The Edgeof, co-founded by Taizo Son, the younger brother of SoftBank founder Masayoshi Son.

This strategic move marked SoftBank's decision to distance itself from one of its oldest venture capital efforts.
